It is believed that scoliosis affects as much as 4% of the world's population and has been referred by many as a silent epidemic (Brackenbury, W., 2001). Further understanding of this disorder will enable healthcare providers to better predict and to aid in development of more effective treatment modalities in the pediatric population. If only the Hunchback of Notre Dame had a good practitioner, he would have avoided the agony that comes with being inflicted with scoliosis. His backaches, fatigue, mood swings, shortness of breath and muscle weakness would have been greatly reduced with proper medical care.
