Deployments, especially repeated deployments, have negatively affected the mental health and quality of life Veterans and active-duty service members. Commonly referred to as “invisible wounds of war,” depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), suicidal ideation, and traumatic brain injury (TBI), can have devastating consequences for Veterans and their families (Cigna, n. d.).
