Updated MRSA
The purpose of this course is to assist the professional nurse in understanding the diagnosis, epidemiology, and treatment of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Emphasis of this course will be placed on nursing management of MRSA. Special emphasis regarding nursing management will be given to those patients considered to be at greatest risk of contracting MRSA in view of present health conditions, length of hospital stay, and susceptibility. The importance of aseptic technique (proper hand washing), maintenance of infection control measures, and patient and family education directed toward prevention of MRSA will be presented.
