The purpose of this course is to define obesity; and to identify co-morbidities associated with obesity. Additionally, bariatric surgical procedures will be described. Guidelines for pre-operative and post-operative nursing care of the patient related to bariatric surgery will be included. Also, included in this course will be information to assist the nurse in identifying potential post-operative complications and nursing interventions for these potential complications.
