The purpose of this article is to provide a basic overview of the organ and tissue donation process and stresses the importance of a collaborative effort between the Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) Coordinator and the bedside nurse. *This article is not intended to represent a training module for qualifying nurses or any other hospital personnel to become independent requestors in the organ and tissue donation process.
