The goal of this course to increase the professional nurse’s knowledge of a syndrome known as malignant hyperthermia; a rare and inherited, fatal disorder characterized by a hypermetabolic state. Additionally, the professional nurse should have the ability to recognize the triggering factors of malignant hyperthermia, and gain a better understanding of how to care for the patient in a malignant hyperthermia crisis.
