This course will prepare the Advanced Practice Nurse in Tennessee to safely prescribe opioids for patients in chronic pain according to Tennessee state law and guidelines. Various types of pain, misconceptions surrounding opioids, and updates in pain will be discussed. Guidelines for safe prescribing practices will be reviewed and a case study will illustrate how to choose the right opioid dose.
